The nominees for the second edition of Ghana Music Awards-Europe were announced at the Airport View Hotel last month. The awards ceremony, organized by Ghana Music Awards Europe, is scheduled to take place on May 6, 2023, in France.

Several industry players and musicians, such as Akosua Agyepong, Piesie Esther, Joyce Blessing, Abena Serwaa Ophelia, and DJ Azonto were in attendance for the nominees announcement. The European categories featured 26 categories, with musicians like Eugy, Bollie, Juls, Abra Cadabra, and Wilhelmina competing for Artiste of the Year.

Nominees for the Best Female Vocalist of the Year category included Trudy, Cilla Asa, Ruth Appiagyei, Yvonne Asamoah, and Akubless. Vying for the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year award were Loso Ranking, Ras Amankwatia, Shegah, Goon Mann, and Danny Lampo.

Contenders for the Best Ghanaian International Ariste of the Year category included Wiyaala, King Ayisoba, Afro Moses, Atongo Zimba, Kyekyeku, and the Santrofi band. Additionally, Slim Buster Asare, Nana Acheampong, and Kwabena Sunkwa were nominated for the Legendary Award.

Head of Corporations for the event, Kofi Mulah, expressed his optimism for this year’s award ceremony to be even better and more organized than last year. Mulah stated the main purpose of the awards scheme was to recognize the hard work of Ghanaian musicians in Europe, and the scheme has received a lot of attention in Europe.

Mulah also mentioned that while last year’s event was held in France, his team hopes to expand to other countries in Europe for subsequent editions in the coming years, with the goal of making the awards scheme one of the best in Europe within the next five years.
