The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former president John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his support for the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and pledged to enhance it if re-elected on December 7.

Mr. Mahama highlighted the policy’s role in ensuring equitable access to education for all citizens.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Sunday, July 7, 2024, he stated, “The Free SHS policy is here to stay, and I am committed to improving it.”

He refuted claims that he opposed the policy, clarifying that he supports it and aims to address its existing challenges.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused Mr. Mahama and the NDC of opposing the policy, alleging they would cancel it if Mr. Mahama is re-elected president.
