The Chief of the Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, has led a high-powered military delegation on a courtesy call to the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at his palace in North Kaneshie.
The visit formed part of efforts by the newly appointed CDS to officially introduce himself to the Ga Traditional Council following his assumption of office. The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation between the Ghana Armed Forces and traditional authorities in promoting national peace, unity, and development.
During the engagement, Lt Gen Agyapong expressed sympathy to the Ga Mantse and the people of the Ga State over the recent accident in the Oti Region. Addressing the council in the Ga language, the CDS stressed that the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ga Traditional Council play complementary roles in maintaining stability and security in the country.
The meeting also highlighted plans for closer operational collaboration ahead of the upcoming Homowo celebrations. The Ga Mantse introduced Nii Adote Otintor II as the Chief of Operations for the Ga Traditional Council, with responsibility for liaising with the Ghana Armed Forces to help maintain order during the festivities and at identified flashpoints.
Lt Gen Agyapong pledged his full support to the Ga Mantse and commended the King for his peaceful leadership, noting the absence of major land litigation disputes during his reign.
The CDS was accompanied by several senior military officers, including the Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, and the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Mensah-Larkai.
