Flooding destroys poultry Farm

A poultry farmer in Gomoa Apam has suffered major losses after recent flooding in the area killed more than 200 chickens, highlighting the growing toll of Ghana’s recurring flood situation on livelihoods and small businesses.

According to the farmer, heavy rains caused floodwaters to overflow into the poultry farm, sweeping through the facility and killing the birds, resulting in substantial financial damage.

Residents say flooding has become a frequent occurrence in the community whenever there is heavy rainfall, with homes, farms and businesses regularly affected.

The incident has once again raised concerns about poor drainage infrastructure and the lack of effective flood control systems in many vulnerable communities across the country.
