Tyson Fury has raised fresh concerns over his proposed blockbuster fight against Anthony Joshua, claiming negotiations for the long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown are close to collapsing.
The former heavyweight champion expressed his frustration in a heated social media video, accusing Joshua and Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn of making additional financial demands and delaying the completion of an agreement.
Fury warned that he could abandon negotiations and pursue another opponent if the outstanding issues are not resolved.
Fury Blames Financial Demands for Delay
The high-profile contest had reportedly been targeted for November, with Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh involved in efforts to bring the two British heavyweights together.
The fight was also being considered for a global broadcast on Netflix, potentially making it one of the biggest heavyweight boxing events in recent years. However, disagreements surrounding the purse and location have reportedly prevented the parties from finalizing contracts.
In his social media outburst, Fury directed his anger at Joshua and Hearn, accusing them of demanding more money despite their previous involvement in lucrative Saudi-backed boxing events.
“Doesn’t look like they’re going to sign the fight and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, all because Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua want more money,” Fury said.
He added:
“They’ve already had that much money off Turki over the last few years, and yet they’ve got the audacity to ask for more money. Keep on running, you cowards. I’ll move on and fight somebody else.”
Fury’s comments suggest that patience is beginning to run out as both camps attempt to settle the remaining contractual issues.
Venue Dispute Complicates Negotiations
The location of the fight has emerged as another major obstacle. Madison Square Garden in New York has reportedly been considered by Saudi organizers and international broadcasters seeking to maximize the event’s worldwide appeal.
A fight at the iconic American venue could attract significant attention from the United States market while supporting Netflix’s global promotional strategy.
Joshua’s representatives, however, are said to favour staging the contest in the United Kingdom. His camp reportedly believes there was an earlier understanding that the bout would be held on British soil.
There are also concerns that holding the fight in the United States could create complicated tax consequences and reduce Joshua’s overall earnings.
A British venue would carry enormous symbolic importance because Fury and Joshua have dominated the country’s heavyweight boxing conversation for more than a decade. Wembley Stadium would likely be among the locations considered if an agreement were reached to hold the event in the UK.
A Fight British Boxing Fans Have Awaited for Years
A Fury-Joshua showdown has been discussed repeatedly, but previous attempts to arrange the contest have failed because of contractual disagreements, mandatory challengers and changing career circumstances.
Both fighters have held heavyweight world titles and built huge international followings. Their rivalry has continued through interviews, social media exchanges and public challenges, despite the pair never meeting inside the ring.
The contest would settle a long-running debate over which fighter should be regarded as the leading British heavyweight of their era. It would also remain commercially attractive regardless of whether a world championship was at stake.

Despite Fury’s threat to move on, promotional representatives have indicated that discussions remain active behind closed doors.
Fury’s public criticism may be an attempt to increase pressure on Joshua’s camp as negotiations enter a decisive stage. Heated public comments have frequently formed part of major boxing negotiations, meaning the outburst does not necessarily confirm that the fight has been cancelled.
However, time is becoming an important factor. Organizers would need sufficient time to finalize contracts, secure a venue, launch promotional activities and allow both fighters to complete full training camps ahead of a proposed November date.
