Ghanaian media personality Cynthia Tima Yeboah, widely known as Tima Kumkum, has opened up about the emotional trauma and public criticism she endured following the collapse of her two marriages.
Speaking at the 2026 Be Inspired by Tima Women’s Conference at Faithway International Chapel, the broadcaster said her experiences had led her to conclude that marriage was not for her.
Tima Kumkum revisited the circumstances surrounding her first marriage, which she entered at the age of 24. She explained that she had previously admitted marrying her first husband partly to spite a former boyfriend who had cheated on her.
According to her, that admission was an honest account of a decision she made while hurt, but it attracted intense criticism and became a basis for people to blame her for the marriage’s failure.
After remaining unmarried for seven years and spending four years as a single mother, she married Dominic Duodu in July 2023. The marriage reportedly lasted 21 months before the couple separated in April 2025.
Tima Kumkum said the end of her second marriage brought another wave of public ridicule, with some social media users insulting her and holding her responsible for the breakdown of both relationships.
Despite the criticism, she said she would not allow failed marriages or negative public labels to define her life. Instead, she has chosen to transform her painful experiences into lessons that can help other women avoid similar mistakes.
She particularly advised young women not to enter new relationships while emotionally wounded or use marriage as a means of taking revenge on former partners.
“Heal before you move on,” she urged, stressing that unresolved pain could influence decisions and create further emotional difficulties.
The media personality said her experiences had strengthened her resolve to mentor and encourage women confronting heartbreak, divorce and social stigma.
