Salaries of public sector employees up by 23%

Kwasi-Kwaning-Bosompem

The government has officially increased the salaries of public sector employees by 23%, following the conclusion of base wage discussions for the year 2024. This adjustment, effective from January 1st of the current year, was confirmed by the Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, in an announcement to the Daily Graphic.

Kwaning-Bosompem emphasized that the government has already approved the implementation of the twenty-three percent adjustment, showcasing a firm commitment to the welfare of public sector workers. He highlighted the administration’s dedication to not only ensuring that salaries are disbursed on time but also guaranteeing the accurate computation of the amounts.

“The government is very committed to upholding workers’ interests and has never faltered in paying salaries, even when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020,” stated Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem. He further noted that unlike some other countries where salaries were reduced and individuals were laid off during the pandemic, the Ghanaian government maintained its commitment to workers by consistently paying their salaries.
