On Monday, June 19, Dr. Konadu Apraku, the former Trades Minister, attempted to submit his presidential nomination forms to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) elections committee. However, the committee rejected his forms because of incompleteness. It was discovered that Dr. Apraku should have included his achievements and contributions to the party in the documents. Some of Dr. Apraku’s team members stated their intention to return on Friday to complete and file his nomination forms.
In contrast, another flagbearer hopeful of the NPP, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, remained undeterred by the large crowds witnessed during other candidates’ submission of nomination forms. Dr. Akoto submitted his documents only with core members of his campaign team instead of organizing transportation for supporters. After filing his forms at the party headquarters on June 19, Dr. Akoto expressed gratitude to his delegates and constituency chairmen who had voluntarily gathered to support him. He urged his supporters to remain committed to his candidacy and vision for the NPP.
The filing of nomination forms for the NPP flagbearership election is currently in progress, with the deadline set for June 24.
