Bawumia declares intention to run for NPP flagbearership

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming NPP flagbearership position as the party opens nominations for its presidential primaries later this month. Bawumia announced during a meeting with the Majority Caucus on May 2, where he stressed the importance of unity and perseverance within the party. He also expressed confidence in the party’s success and called for party members’ support. The presidential primaries are scheduled for November 4, 2023, with nominations accepted from May 26 to June 24, 2023.

Parliamentary primaries for orphan constituencies will begin on June 16 and end on July 14, while nominations for constituencies with sitting MPs will start on December 20, 2023, and end on January 4, 2024. The party has also set rules and regulations for conducting the presidential and parliamentary primaries, which will be made public soon.
