Government Reaffirms Commitment to Technology-Driven Education

Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has reiterated government’s determination to make technology a central pillar of Ghana’s education system, stressing that innovation must drive learning in the years ahead.

Speaking on behalf of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu at the launch of the third EdTech Stakeholder Forum, Dr. Apaak said the vision is to leverage technology to close learning gaps, enhance teaching, and equip students for the demands of a rapidly changing world.

He highlighted key digital initiatives already underway, including the Mobile School Report Card, the Differentiated Learning Plus dashboard, and Ghana Learning TV and Radio, which were introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also pointed to the Draft National EdTech Strategy, developed earlier this year with partners, which outlines plans to expand internet connectivity, train teachers in digital skills, promote inclusive education, and prepare schools to integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Dr. Apaak stressed that achieving this transformation will require collective effort.
“Government alone cannot deliver this change. Private sector partners, innovators, teachers, civil society, academia, and development partners must all play their part so that technology-enabled learning becomes a reality for every Ghanaian child,” he said.

The forum convened stakeholders from education, technology, and development sectors to explore strategies for harnessing digital tools to deliver equitable and quality learning across the country.
