Nigerian musician Mr Eazi has praised Shatta Wale for consistently performing at his events without requesting payment, describing their relationship as one built on friendship, loyalty and mutual respect.
Speaking during a livestream interview with Ghanaian content creator MadeInGhana, Mr Eazi said he normally pays guest artistes who appear at his shows. Shatta Wale, however, has never charged him, despite commanding a performance fee that Mr Eazi put at $250,000.
He recalled occasions when the Ghanaian dancehall musician surprised him by appearing on stage without a formal invitation or prior arrangement. According to Mr Eazi, he would hear the audience erupt while performing, only to turn around and discover that Shatta Wale had joined him.
For the singer, those appearances reflect a personal bond that extends beyond commercial arrangements.
Mr Eazi said the support goes both ways. He has also performed without charge at Shatta Wale’s stadium concerts, including the Freedom Wave Concert, returning the goodwill shown to him.
He further challenged perceptions that focus mainly on Shatta Wale’s controversial public image, describing him as “one of the smartest and realest people” he knows.
Mr Eazi also praised the dancehall artiste’s generosity towards fellow musicians and emerging talent, highlighting a supportive side of his character that he believes deserves greater recognition.
