Veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji has drawn widespread criticism on social media after leading a group of supporters of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at a solidarity rally in Abuja.

The event, which attracted several Nollywood personalities, was used to highlight the Tinubu administration’s achievements in areas such as infrastructure development and security. Participants also appealed to the government to intensify efforts to tackle the persistent problem of kidnappings across the country.

The rally was organised by the Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria (RTIFN) movement under the theme, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” It followed a large-scale medical outreach programme that offered free consultations, treatment and medications to hundreds of residents, particularly low-income earners.

Addressing the media during the event, Orji, who serves as Deputy Director-General of the movement, urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform agenda as the country looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.

The demonstration comes at a time when concerns over insecurity and economic hardship remain high. Recent reports of abductions in parts of Oyo State and Borno State, coupled with rising inflation and the increasing cost of living, have continued to fuel public dissatisfaction.

However, public attention quickly shifted from the rally’s message to Orji’s appearance during the march. Videos and photographs shared on social media showed the actor walking slowly and appearing physically frail, sparking a flood of reactions from users on X.

Many commentators questioned the decision by some celebrities to publicly endorse the administration at a time when many Nigerians are grappling with economic difficulties.

One X user, identified as @AdenolaOla…, wrote: “Nollywood actors declaring Tinubu is fixing Nigeria while millions of Nigerians are eating garri with no sugar and fuel is ₦1,200 per litre. Is this ‘fixing’ or paid PR?”

The reactions have since generated debate online, reflecting the broader national conversation about the Tinubu administration’s policies, economic reforms and their impact on ordinary Nigerians.
