Fifa bans Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici worldwide

Tottenham Hotspur managing director Fabio Paratici’s future with the club has been cast into doubt following news that Fifa has extended his ban in Italy worldwide.

The Italian football executive, who joined the North London club in June 2021, has been banned from performing any football-related activities for two years by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) due to his alleged role in the ‘Calcioscommesse’ match-fixing scandal.

The extension of Paratici’s ban to cover all football-related activities worldwide means his position at Tottenham Hotspur is now under threat. The Premier League club has yet to comment on the matter, but it is believed that they will review Paratici’s position in light of the ban extension.

Paratici has a long and successful career in football, having worked as the sporting director at Juventus for over a decade before moving to Tottenham Hotspur. He is credited with playing a key role in Juventus’ dominance of Italian football during his tenure at the club.

The ‘Calcioscommesse’ scandal rocked Italian football in 2011 and led to the banning of numerous officials and players.

Paratici was among those accused of involvement in the scandal, although he has always denied any wrongdoing.
The extension of Paratici’s ban by Fifa is a significant blow to Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking to rebuild their team under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The club has yet to make any statement regarding Paratici’s future.
