It has been several weeks since a video depicting a solemn burial service in Saltpond, Central Region, gained widespread attention online. The footage captured a gathering bidding farewell to a Catholic priest as his body rested.

The incident sparked social media conversations involving a troubled woman who threw herself onto the casket inside the open grave, crying out the priest’s name, “Father Bernard.” This unexpected act visibly shook the congregation and quickly became the subject of many memes on platforms like Twitter and TikTok.

After several weeks, the woman in question, Comfort Jackson, has come forward to share her story. She revealed she assists with cleaning the church where the late Father Bernard served, emphasizing his significant role in her personal growth and well-being. “He would include me in his prayers and cared for me and my father during his illness,” Comfort explained. She said she would help.

Speaking on Kofi TV, she expressed that grief was so unbearable that she could not fully explain how she leaped into the grave, considering she was at the back of the gathering. According to her, witnessing the departure of someone who had positively impacted her life was an overwhelming experience she could not comprehend. Comfort even confessed to dreaming about the clergyman after his passing, before the funeral service.
