The campaign team of John Mahama is requesting that Accra-based UTV withdraw and apologize for a quote that it claims is false but has attributed to the former president. The quote is alleged to portray John Dramani Mahama in a negative light by attacking Ashantis.
On April 14, Spokesperson Joyce Bawa Mogtari said, “President Mahama has made no such statement, either on his campaign trail or to UTV. We believe this is another campaign of disinformation aimed at creating disaffection for Mr. John Mahama, and demand UTV retract and apologize.”
Mr. Mahama is on a regional campaign tour, urging supporters to vote ahead of the National Democratic Congress’s Presidential Primaries on May 13. He recently completed a three-day campaign trip in the Eastern Region and is now in the Greater Accra Region.
Joyce Bawa Mogtari emphasized that “Mr. Mahama remains focused on his ‘Building the Ghana we want Together’ campaign and will not be swayed by such malicious propaganda.”
