The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says it is working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, before a court over the weekend.
This follows his voluntary surrender to EOCO on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at about 10 a.m., in connection with investigations into a GH¢2.2 million payment made to his former law firm for legal services in a case involving SIC Life.
In a statement issued on Friday, October 2, EOCO said the MP was cooperating with investigators as the Office continued with the necessary investigative and legal procedures.
“Mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail, the Office is fervently working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Suspect before a weekend court,” the statement said.
EOCO also dismissed reports that it had granted the MP bail in the sum of GH¢50 million.
“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GH¢50 million bail,” it added.
Nana Baffour Awuah surrendered to EOCO after the Office obtained a warrant for his arrest as part of the investigation.
His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, had earlier indicated that the MP could spend the night at EOCO as questioning continued.
