The family of a five-month-old boy has appealed for public assistance after the child was allegedly taken from the Cape Coast Bus Terminal at Asafo Market in Kumasi.
The infant, identified as Akwasi Banahene, disappeared on Saturday, September 19, 2026, while his mother was preparing to begin her food-vending business.
According to the child’s uncle, Osei Kuffour, the mother arrived at her trading spot at about 5 a.m. and placed the sleeping baby in front of her shop while she arranged her items.
An unidentified woman, believed to be between 37 and 40 years old, was reportedly sitting quietly near a corner of the store.
The mother briefly turned away to retrieve an item, but when she returned, both the woman and her son were missing.
The family searched the immediate area but could not locate the baby or identify the woman suspected of taking him.
The incident has been reported to the police, who are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspected abduction.
The family is asking traders, passengers, drivers and other people who were at the Cape Coast Bus Terminal or elsewhere around Asafo Market on Saturday morning to provide any information that could assist the investigation.
Members of the public who know the whereabouts of Akwasi Banahene or have information about the unidentified woman are urged to contact the nearest police station immediately.
