A fire outbreak near the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) Substation D at Avenor has disrupted power supply to several communities in Accra.

According to ECG’s Accra West Region, the fire broke out at the North Industrial Area on Thursday, October 1, 2026, affecting electricity supply in the area.

Communities affected include North Industrial Area, North Kaneshie, Tesano, Abeka Junction, Peace FM, Santana Market and Alajo Junction, as well as surrounding areas.

The outage has affected households, businesses and other customers within the Accra West operational area.

ECG said its engineers were working to address the situation and restore power to the affected communities.

The company appealed to customers for their understanding and assured them that efforts were underway to restore electricity supply.

“ECG regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” the company said.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas have been advised to await further updates from ECG on the progress of the restoration.
