Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama in Kwahu in Ghana’s Eastern Region during the Easter period.
The visit was a reciprocal gesture following a similar meeting by President Mahama during the 2025 Easter celebrations. Both leaders were in the area at the time, with President Mahama attending the Kwahu Business Forum held at the Mpraeso Social Centre.
Akufo-Addo explained that his presence in Kwahu was part of a long-standing personal tradition of spending Easter in the area, a practice he has maintained for nearly two decades. Taking advantage of their proximity, he used the opportunity to pay a visit to the sitting president.
The meeting was described as warm and cordial, reflecting a spirit of statesmanship and national unity. Observers noted the significance of the interaction, particularly in a political environment often marked by rivalry.
The encounter also drew widespread attention online, with many Ghanaians reacting to a unique forehead-touching greeting shared between the two leaders, which quickly became a topic of discussion on social media.
