JUSAG strike shuts down court operations nationwide

The Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has commenced its nationwide strike, disrupting court operations and forcing the closure of several court premises across the country.

The Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Accra Circuit Court and some District Court offices were among the facilities affected as the industrial action took effect.

Checks  indicate that security personnel have been instructed not to open the gates, effectively preventing access to several court premises.

Red pieces of cloth were also tied to some entrances to signal the association’s grievances and draw attention to the ongoing strike.

JUSAG is demanding the payment of outstanding revised salary arrears dating back to January 2026, prompting its members to withdraw their services over the unresolved matter.

The industrial action is expected to disrupt administrative work and other court-related services nationwide.

Meanwhile, Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed has appealed to the association to suspend the strike and allow further discussions to resolve the outstanding issues.

Mr Ahmed said management had held high-level discussions in good faith with relevant government stakeholders to address the concerns raised by the association.

He stressed the need for continued engagement between the parties to reach an amicable resolution and restore normal operations within the Judicial Service.
