Mohammed Kudus Close to Tottenham Starting Return, De Zerbi Confirms

Roberto De Zerbi provides update on Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has delivered an encouraging update on Mohammed Kudus, revealing that the Ghanaian attacker is close to returning to the club’s starting line-up.

Kudus recently made his long-awaited competitive comeback after spending approximately seven months on the sidelines with hamstring and quadriceps injuries sustained in January.

The 26-year-old has since made promising substitute appearances against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest as Tottenham gradually manage his return to full fitness.

Speaking about the Ghana international’s progress, De Zerbi said Kudus was “very close to being ready to start,” indicating that the forward could soon be handed his first starting role since recovering from the lengthy injury.

The Italian coach also expressed his admiration for Kudus and revealed that he had made significant efforts to sign him while managing Brighton and Hove Albion. Kudus eventually joined West Ham United before later moving to Tottenham.

De Zerbi described the former Ajax player as an “amazing player” whose versatility gives Tottenham several attacking options.

Kudus can operate on either wing, play behind the main striker as a number 10 or lead the attack centrally. His ability to carry the ball, create chances and take on defenders could add a different dimension to Tottenham’s forward play.

His expected return to the starting team comes at an important time for Spurs as they seek to improve their attacking performances during the opening stages of the season.

With Tottenham facing a congested schedule across domestic and other competitions, Kudus’ availability will also allow De Zerbi to rotate his squad while maintaining creativity and attacking quality.

The Ghanaian will now hope to build on his recent substitute appearances and regain the form that made him one of the Premier League’s most dangerous attacking players before his injury.
