The Volta North Regional Police Command has arrested two men in separate operations involving suspected illegal firearms and narcotics.
Saviour Dzadze was arrested at the Kpando Circuit Court on October 14, 2026, after a complainant identified him as the person who allegedly threatened his life.
Police subsequently searched a cottage at Alavanyo-Dzogbedze, recovering an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, 10 live AAA Lion cartridges and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
According to investigators, Dzadze claimed he inherited the single-barrel gun from his father and received the pump-action gun from his brother. He allegedly said a man identified as Komla exchanged the AK-47 for cannabis. Police are pursuing those leads.
In the second operation, Marine Police arrested Vincent Lotsu, 31, following a patrol on September 13, 2026, at Mangoase in the Central Tongu District.
Officers reportedly discovered a suspected cannabis plantation and 16 sacks of dried leaves behind a fenced wooden structure near the Volta Lake.
Samples were submitted for laboratory examination. Both suspects remain in custody assisting investigations, with Lotsu expected to appear before court.
