NPP Holds National Delegates Conference Today

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its highly anticipated National Delegates Conference today, Saturday, July 19, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.

More than 5,500 delegates from all 16 regions are expected to attend the event, which is widely seen as a pivotal step in the party’s rebuilding efforts following its loss in the 2024 general elections. Held under the theme “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” the conference is intended to foster reflection, renewal, and unity as the NPP repositions itself ahead of the 2028 polls.

Ahead of the conference, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, disclosed that over 50 motions will be debated. These motions cover critical structural and policy reforms aimed at strengthening the party’s internal operations and electoral competitiveness.

He noted that the motions have been compiled into an official booklet, reviewed by the National Executive Committee (NEC), with copies to be distributed to delegates before voting commences.

This year’s conference takes place at a decisive juncture for the party, as it faces increasing internal calls for reform, inclusion, and a recommitment to its founding principles. Observers expect the outcomes of the conference to shape the NPP’s strategic direction over the next four years in both policy and leadership terms.

Security has been heightened around the venue, and logistical preparations are in place to ensure an orderly and inclusive process throughout the day.

As deliberations get underway, all eyes are on the party’s ability to unify its base, resolve internal rifts, and lay a solid foundation for a strong political comeback.
