On Saturday, May 20, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, along with his Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and a delegation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), paid their final respects to the late MP for the Kumawu constituency, Philip Basoah. The late MP, who passed away on March 27 at 54, was honored during the funeral ceremony.
Notable attendees at the funeral included Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former presidential hopeful of the NDC; Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff; Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady, and Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman ‘Wontumi,’ the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
Others present were Stephen Ntim, the NPP National Chairman; Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs; Ernest Yaw Ntim, the NPP parliamentary candidate for Kumawu; Henry Nana Boakye, widely known as ‘Nana B,’ the National Organizer of NPP, and Kwasi Amankwaa, also known as ‘Tom Cee,’ the NDC parliamentary candidate, among others.
Vice President Dr. Bawumia shared a farewell message expressing gratitude for the late MP’s service to the nation. In his post, he bid farewell to Philip Basoah, referring to him as a brother, friend, and patriot. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the NPP, the Kumawu Constituency, and Ghana for the late MP’s dedicated service and wished him eternal rest.
