Franklin Cudjoe, President of the policy think tank IMANI Africa, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of bias. In a Facebook post on Friday, May 17, Cudjoe alleged that the President has neglected to forward at least three petitions against a former Chief Justice and the current Electoral Commission (EC) to the Chief Justice, as mandated by law.
In contrast, the President promptly forwarded a petition against the current Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng, to the Chief Justice. This petition, filed by Agyabeng’s predecessor, Martin Amidu, accused him of procurement breaches.
Cudjoe’s post has ignited a heated debate, with some backing his accusations and others defending the President’s decisions. This controversy arises amid growing scrutiny of Ghana’s democratic institutions, making the President’s management of petitions a contentious topic.
