The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has disclosed that the reconstruction of the La General Hospital will cost the state approximately €50 million.
He revealed that the government has already disbursed €7 million to the contractor, with an outstanding balance of about €43 million required to complete the project.
The La General Hospital, which had served the people of La and nearby communities for decades, was demolished in 2020 under the previous Akufo-Addo-led NPP administration to pave the way for a new, modern facility. The move, however, generated public concern as the site remained undeveloped for years following the demolition.
Mr. Akandoh reaffirmed that the project remains a top government priority, emphasizing that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure its timely completion and the restoration of essential healthcare services to the community.
