South African bus collides with an armoured truck, killing 20 and injuring 68

It happened in Limpopo’s northern province late Monday, injuring at least 60 people.

20 people are believed to have been killed and 60+ injured during a head-on collision between a bus and a truck. The accident occurred in Limpopo province on February 13, 2023. In a statement issued by the Police Department on Tuesday, divers are still searching for people who might have been swept away by a river near the N1 highway, where the accident occurred.

When it crashed, the bus rolled off the N1 freeway and into a nearby river.

Tidimalo Chuene, a spokesman for the regional transport department, told AFP that the cause of the accident is under investigation, despite recent heavy rains in the region.
