In a message shared on her social media platforms to mark this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration, the Vice President said the occasion provides an opportunity for the country to honour the hardworking men and women whose efforts “feed the nation and sustain daily life.”

She commended the resilience and commitment of farmers across all regions, noting that their work represents dignity, hope, and the renewed promise that comes with each agricultural season.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang also emphasized the crucial role of women in agriculture, many of whom, she observed, go to their farms each day to support their families. Their dedication, she said, reinforces the need to build systems that protect farmers, improve their livelihoods, and expand opportunities within the agricultural sector.

Reaffirming government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture, she highlighted ongoing policy efforts aimed at securing fair returns for farmers and promoting dignified working conditions across the value chain.

“As we celebrate Farmers’ Day, we renew both our gratitude and our responsibility,” she noted, offering prayers for God’s blessings on the nation and the farmers who till its lands.

This year’s celebration once again reinforces the indispensable role of farmers in national development and the need for sustained investment in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
