The National Motor (Okada) Riders Union has extended heartfelt congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his election victory, lauding his unwavering support for their union and expressing optimism about the legalization of their operations.

In a press release, the union described Mahama’s triumph as “well-deserved” and a testament to his resilience and dedication.

“We are deeply grateful for your commitment and dedication to our union,” the statement read. “We pray that God protects you and grants you wisdom as we place our hopes in the legalization and promises you have made to us.”

The union’s congratulatory message aligns with Mahama’s earlier pledges to formalize the okada industry. He had promised to legalize and regulate commercial motorbike operations, focusing on enhancing riders’ safety, improving their livelihoods, and creating jobs.

The Okada Riders Association of Ghana has also voiced its appreciation for Mahama’s vision to establish an electric motorbike assembly plant in the country—a step toward sustainable transportation and economic development.

Concluding their statement, the union expressed optimism about the future under Mahama’s leadership: “We trust that your government will regularize our operations, and we look forward to a brighter future. Thank you for your genuine concern for our industry.”
