Kojo Bamba Tops NPP Vice-Chairmanship Race

Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has won the New Patriotic Party’s First National Vice Chairman position, emerging ahead of 12 other contestants at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

Bamba secured 3,116 votes in the elections held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Henry Nana Boakye, known as Nana B, placed second with 3,061 votes to become Second Vice Chairman, while Nana Akomea secured the Third Vice Chairman position.

The outcome marks a significant step in Bamba’s political career, taking the former auto mechanic from grassroots mobilization into one of the party’s most senior national offices.

His campaign centered on the Twi slogan “Akrakyefoɔ mmienu, macho man baako,” loosely translated as “two elites, one macho man.” He urged delegates to balance their selection of experienced professionals with someone he presented as capable of protecting party members and safeguarding ballots during the 2028 general elections.

That message placed his experience in grassroots security and mobilization at the center of his bid, as he competed against more established party figures.

Bamba previously became widely known through his leadership of Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group associated with controversy in the Ashanti Region following the party’s victory in the 2016 elections. He subsequently moved into the NPP’s formal organisational structures.

His election puts him alongside Nana Boakye and Akomea in the vice-chairmanship team supporting the party’s new national leadership.

The executives take office as the NPP works to strengthen its structures, unite its membership and prepare for the 2028 general elections.
