South African regional airline Airlink plans to expand its network by approximately 10 per cent and enter two additional African countries as new aircraft increase its operating capacity.
Chief Executive Officer De Villiers Engelbrecht said the carrier was targeting potentially its most ambitious year of revenue growth, although he did not identify the proposed markets or disclose revenue projections.
The Johannesburg-based airline, in which Qatar Airways holds a 25 per cent stake, currently serves 67 destinations across 16 countries.
Airlink operates more than 70 Embraer aircraft, using regional jets to match capacity with demand and offer frequent services.
Recent additions include a direct Cape Town–Mauritius route operated with a 124-seat Embraer E195-E2, allowing passengers to avoid connecting through Johannesburg.
The airline carried approximately 4.5 million passengers in the financial year ending August 2026, an increase of 5.5 per cent.
Its expanded Qatar Airways codeshare also allows Airlink to market services to Doha under its own flight code, with Qatar operating the aircraft.
The proposed African expansion remains subject to aircraft availability, regulatory approvals and commercially sustainable demand.
