Kpemka Sues BOST for Compensation Over Alleged Unlawful Termination

Former BOST Deputy Managing Director Joseph Dindiok Kpemka

Former Deputy Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, has taken legal action against the company, alleging that his appointment was terminated without the required procedures.

His lawyer, Patrick Fafali Azameti, said individuals asked Kpemka to leave his office and hand over after the change of government in 2025. However, he maintained that his client received no formal termination notice.

Speaking on Citi FM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, Azameti said attempts to clarify Kpemka’s employment status and recover outstanding benefits had failed, prompting the lawsuit.

According to the lawyer, the employment agreement required notice of termination or salary in lieu of notice, neither of which was provided. He said Kpemka was also owed salaries and other contractual benefits.

Azameti further alleged that the Attorney-General’s Office had advised BOST to settle the outstanding entitlements, but the company had not acted on that advice.

He explained that the action was against BOST in its corporate capacity, arguing that it remained legally separate from the state despite government ownership.

Kpemka, a former Deputy Attorney-General, was appointed to BOST in May 2024.

Separately, EOCO questioned him on September 10, 2026, over BOST-related dealings and subsequently granted him bail. The specific matters under investigation had not been publicly disclosed in the report on that questioning.
