Persistent rise in the price of Ginger

Traders dealing in ginger at Nana Bosoma Central Market are appealing to the government to address the persistent rise in the price of the crop.

According to the traders, the situation is being driven in part by increased demand from herbal practitioners, who are purchasing ginger in large quantities for medicinal use. They say this growing competition is placing pressure on supply and affecting their ability to meet the needs of regular consumers.

The traders have expressed concern that if the trend continues unchecked, it could lead to shortages and further price increases in the market.

They are therefore calling on the government to support farmers in the Bono Region to scale up ginger production, in order to stabilise supply and ensure the commodity remains accessible and affordable.
