Actress and television presenter Abena Kyei Boakye says she is committed to building a respected career through her work and values, rather than relying on controversy to remain in the public eye.
Speaking to Graphic Showbiz during her unveiling as a brand ambassador for Glow Washing Powder in Accra, the UTV presenter said protecting her reputation remained a priority.
“I don’t believe controversy should be the price you pay for relevance,” she said.
Boakye explained that public figures influence young people, making it important to consider the example they set. She wants her career to have lasting significance beyond fleeting attention on social media.
She also attributed her growing commercial partnerships to the confidence companies have in her public image, saying her endorsement opportunities reflected the trust she had built over time.
Boakye first gained national recognition in the 2011 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, representing the Brong Ahafo Region and finishing as third runner-up.
She later hosted Kantanka TV’s Fontomfrom Morning Show for more than four years before joining UTV in 2024. Beyond broadcasting and acting, her interests include entrepreneurship and philanthropy through the Eno Boakyewaa Foundation.
