Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Amerado has released a new eight-track EP titled The Price of Becoming.
Released on August 28, 2026, through MicBurnerz Music, the 27-minute project explores the sacrifices, disappointments and personal transformation behind the pursuit of success.
The EP combines Amerado’s introspective songwriting and energetic rap delivery with Highlife, Afrobeats, Hip-Hop and Reggae influences.
Amerado Reflects on the Cost of Ambition
The Price of Becoming examines the experiences that shape people as they pursue their ambitions.
Across the project, Amerado reflects on perseverance, betrayal, financial pressure, spiritual dependence and the discipline required to remain committed to a personal calling.
The EP’s central message is that achievement often carries a cost that outsiders do not see. Public recognition may conceal private struggles, difficult decisions, damaged relationships and periods of uncertainty.
Rather than presenting success only as celebration, Amerado focuses on the emotional and spiritual demands associated with growth.
Project Opens With ‘Mpaebor’
The EP begins with “The Price of Becoming (Mpaebor),” an introductory track that establishes the project’s reflective tone.
The Twi word Mpaebor refers to prayer, placing faith and spiritual grounding at the beginning of Amerado’s account of his journey.
From there, the project moves through songs addressing money, loyalty, misunderstanding, resilience and the pressures associated with public life.
Amerado alternates between rapid Twi and English rap verses, proverb-inspired expressions and melodic passages. His delivery allows the EP to move between personal reflection and harder, competitive rap performances.
Highlife Meets Afrobeats and Hip-Hop
Musically, The Price of Becoming draws from multiple Ghanaian and international genres.
Traditional Highlife elements appear alongside contemporary Afrobeats percussion, heavy Hip-Hop drums and occasional Reggae undertones.
The combination allows Amerado to maintain his identity as a lyricist while exploring more melodic and commercially accessible sounds.
“Sika Mframa,” produced by M.O.G Beatz, is among the tracks used to introduce the project during its rollout.
Skales, Epixode and Ras Kuuku Featured
Nigerian singer Skales appears on “Fountain,” adding a cross-border collaboration to the EP.
Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall performers Epixode and Ras Kuuku join Amerado on the remix of “Pharaoh,” the project’s closing track.
The featured artists broaden the EP’s sonic character without shifting attention away from its central narrative of struggle, maturity and determination.
