Black Sherif wins Artiste of the Year award TGMA 2026

Black Sherif emerged as the biggest winner at the 27th edition of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2026, taking home the prestigious Artiste of the Year award during the ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

The award-winning musician, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, enjoyed a remarkable night, securing several major honours that further cemented his status as one of Ghana’s leading music stars. In addition to winning Artiste of the Year, he also picked up Album of the Year for Iron Boy, Songwriter of the Year, Afropop Song of the Year for Sacrifice, and Hip-Hop Song of the Year for Where Dem Boys.

The achievement marks Black Sherif’s second Artiste of the Year win, having previously claimed the title in 2023.

Other standout performers at the awards included Medikal, who won Hiplife Song of the Year for Shoulder, Best Collaboration of the Year, and Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year. Kofi Kinaata also had a successful night, earning Highlife Song of the Year for It Is Finished as well as Highlife Artiste of the Year.

In the reggae and dancehall category, Stonebwoy retained his Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year title, while Diana Hamilton was named Gospel Artiste of the Year.

The ceremony also paid tribute to legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his immense contribution to Ghanaian music.
