Accra FM presenter Kwabena Bobie Ansah has apologised to dancehall musician Stonebwoy following comments he made while comparing him to fellow artiste Shatta Wale.
During a broadcast, Ansah said he preferred Shatta Wale because the musician was outspoken and willing to express his views. He also made personal remarks about Stonebwoy’s facial expressions, suggesting that the artiste harboured bitterness.
Stonebwoy responds
Stonebwoy took issue with the comments on social media, describing them as an attack on his character.
The musician said he could have responded with insults but chose to remain calm out of respect for people in the presenter’s age group.
Presenter apologises
In a subsequent social media statement, Ansah apologised and said he had not intended to disrespect Stonebwoy or undermine his character.
He acknowledged the musician’s contribution to Ghanaian music and described him as a legend in his own right.
Ansah said his apology was motivated by respect for Stonebwoy’s concerns rather than fear of criticism from the musician’s supporters, known as Bhim Nation. He also referred to his years of facing political opposition.
The presenter called for unity and expressed his continued support for Stonebwoy.
