Hollywood actor Boris Kodjoe has received an honorary chieftaincy in Prampram, marking a personal milestone in his connection to his Ghanaian heritage.
The Paramount Chief of Prampram, Nene Tetteh Wakah, conferred the honor on the Austrian-born actor during a visit to the coastal town in the Greater Accra Region while filming a documentary.
Prampram is the birthplace of Kodjoe’s grandfather, Joseph Cecil Ofuatey-Kodjoe, making the visit an opportunity to reconnect with his family’s history and meet relatives in the community.
The actor, who has Ghanaian and German ancestry, was hosted and accompanied by Chief Nene Annorbitettey Mansro. Members of his extended family welcomed him before the presentation of the honorary title.
Reflecting on the visit in a Facebook post on Saturday, October 3, Kodjoe expressed gratitude for the reception and described the honour as “a moment I will never forget.”
He also acknowledged his nephew, Curtis Nana Kofi Egyir, and Anguah Anorkor Abbey for helping organise the visit.
“The power of ancestry reaches beyond generations and across oceans,” he wrote, highlighting the significance of returning to his grandfather’s birthplace.
