Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy has ruled out appearing on a livestream with popular content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, saying the streamer is too young and talkative for his liking.
The Grammy-winning musician addressed the possibility during an Instagram Live session after a fan asked whether he would consider joining Peller for an online broadcast.
Burna Boy firmly rejected the idea, describing the 20-year-old creator as a “small boy” whose personality did not fit with the type of people in his circle.
“I do not typically associate with individuals like that. He has reached out to me on numerous occasions. I have seen all of his direct messages on Instagram, but I have not responded,” Burna Boy said.
The singer confirmed that Peller had repeatedly attempted to contact him through Instagram direct messages. However, he said he had deliberately chosen not to respond to any of the messages.
Peller has built a substantial following on TikTok and YouTube through his energetic comedy, livestreams and interactions with prominent Nigerian celebrities. His growing influence has made him one of the most recognizable personalities in Nigeria’s expanding digital entertainment industry.
His previous interaction with members of Burna Boy’s circle also attracted attention online. A viral clip from a fashion event showed Peller attempting to shake hands with the singer’s mother and manager, Bose Ogulu. The moment generated widespread commentary on social media and prompted an apology from the streamer.
Burna Boy’s latest remarks have divided opinions online. Some people defended his right to decide who he associates or collaborates with, while others considered his response unnecessarily dismissive of the young content creator.
The debate has also highlighted the contrast between established global musicians seeking to protect their brands and an emerging generation of live streamers using celebrity collaborations to expand their audiences.
