Nigerian streamer Carter Efe has claimed that the widely publicized traditional wedding between TikTok personalities Peller and Jarvis was staged as an entertainment project rather than a genuine marriage ceremony.
Carter Efe made the allegation during a live broadcast while explaining why he was absent from the event.
“They do content, they say na wedding. Yes, na content now. You no know? No be real marriage. Na why dem no invite me,” he said while laughing.
His comments quickly generated debate among social media users, with some questioning the authenticity of the ceremony and others suggesting that the statement was influenced by his reported disagreement with the couple.
During the livestream, Carter Efe’s co-host suggested that future developments involving Peller and Jarvis, including a possible pregnancy announcement, could also be created for content.
Carter Efe immediately cautioned him against discussing Jarvis’ private life. The co-host subsequently withdrew the suggestion and described it as an allegation.
Despite dismissing the ceremony as staged, videos circulating online reportedly showed Carter Efe watching a livestream of the traditional wedding from his home.
Some viewers claimed he appeared surprised and emotional, particularly when Peller and Jarvis kissed during the ceremony. However, reactions to a video clip cannot independently establish a person’s feelings or intentions.
Social media commentators have also linked Carter Efe’s absence to previous tension between him and Peller.
Months before the wedding, Carter Efe reportedly livestreamed from Peller’s birthday celebration despite objections from the host and was accused of making remarks about Jarvis.
Peller had also previously expressed concern that Carter Efe treated him more like a competitor than a friend, contributing to speculation that their relationship had deteriorated before the wedding.
There is currently no independently verified evidence supporting Carter Efe’s claim that the marriage was staged.
Before the traditional ceremony, Peller, 19, and Jarvis, 23, reportedly held a court registry wedding and later participated in a white wedding ceremony.
Neither Peller nor Jarvis has publicly indicated that their union was created solely for online entertainment. Unless the couple states otherwise or credible evidence emerges, Carter Efe’s comments remain an unproven claim.
