Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his family’s relationship with billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote dates back to the day he was born.

Speaking during an interview on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, Davido said Dangote personally drove his mother home from the hospital after she gave birth to him. The singer described the incident as evidence of the deep friendship that has existed between Dangote and his family for decades.

“Aliko Dangote drove my mom home from the hospital when she gave birth to me,” Davido said.

The award-winning musician explained that Dangote has remained a familiar figure in his life because of the industrialist’s close relationship with his father, businessman Adedeji Adeleke.

Davido also disclosed that Dangote has consistently offered him the same financial advice since childhood. According to him, the billionaire repeatedly urges him to save and manage his earnings responsibly.

“Anytime I see him, he still tells me, ‘David, save your money,’” he said, adding that the advice has remained unchanged since he was young.

The singer said the repeated counsel has remained relevant as he navigates a successful international music career and the financial responsibilities that accompany fame.

Reflecting on his experiences with some of the world’s wealthiest people, Davido observed that billionaires are often more ordinary and grounded in their personal lives than the public might expect.

His remarks offered a rare glimpse into the longstanding ties between the Adeleke and Dangote families, as well as the disciplined approach to wealth that Africa’s richest industrialist has encouraged him to adopt.
