The European Union Film Festival is set to return to Accra after a five-year absence, bringing together Ghanaian and European filmmakers for a week of screenings, workshops and industry discussions.
The third edition of the festival will take place from October 5 to October 11, 2026, under the theme “Peace, Tolerance, and Inclusion.”
Organizers say the theme will guide conversations around social cohesion, cultural diversity and the role of cinema in promoting dialogue among communities.
Festival activities will be hosted at several major cultural centers across Accra, including the Goethe-Institut Ghana, the British Council, Alliance Française and the Austrian Embassy.
The program will feature public screenings of selected Ghanaian and European films, followed by question-and-answer sessions that will allow audiences to engage directly with filmmakers and industry professionals.
Beyond the screenings, participants will have access to fireside conversations, professional masterclasses, practical workshops and networking sessions.
These activities are intended to strengthen relationships between Ghana’s growing film industry and European cinema stakeholders while creating opportunities for joint productions, skills development and international distribution.
The festival will also provide a platform for emerging filmmakers to learn from experienced professionals, exchange ideas and establish connections that could support future projects.
The return of the European Union Film Festival is expected to contribute to Accra’s cultural calendar while encouraging greater collaboration between local and international creative industries.
