Ghana has officially been named the host nation for Season 3 of the Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC), one of the continent’s leading platforms for promoting African storytelling, cultural exchange, and creative collaboration.
The announcement follows Ghanaian actress Celestine Donkor’s impressive triumph at the Season 2 grand finale held in Kampala, Uganda. Under the competition’s rules, the country of the overall winner automatically earns the right to host the next edition of the continental event.
Ghana Earns Hosting Rights
Donkor’s victory not only secured the championship title for Ghana but also paved the way for the country to welcome actors, filmmakers, and creative professionals from across Africa for the third edition of the competition.
Organized by MK Casting in partnership with the African Chamber of Content Producers, the Africa Monologue Challenge has grown beyond a traditional acting contest into a platform that promotes African unity, cultural diplomacy, and economic cooperation through the creative arts.
Supporting Africa’s Creative Economy
Organizers say Season 3 will align closely with the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), using the creative industry as a tool to strengthen cultural ties and encourage collaboration across the continent.
By bringing together performers and creatives from diverse African countries, the competition seeks to break down cultural barriers, encourage cross-border partnerships, and promote the exchange of ideas within Africa’s rapidly expanding creative economy.
Hosting the event is also expected to boost Ghana’s tourism and hospitality industries, with hundreds of actors, producers, directors, casting professionals, and media executives anticipated to travel to the country for the competition.
Celebrating Authentic African Stories
A central objective of the Africa Monologue Challenge is to showcase authentic African narratives through powerful solo performances. Contestants present monologues that explore African history, identity, resilience, culture, and contemporary social issues, helping to amplify African voices on the global stage.
Organizers believe the platform contributes to reshaping international perceptions of the continent by allowing Africans to tell their own stories from their own perspectives.
What to Expect in Season 3
Season 3 will begin with a global call for auditions, inviting aspiring and professional actors from across Africa and members of the African diaspora to submit digital monologue performances.
Following a rigorous selection process conducted by an international panel of judges, successful applicants will be invited to Ghana for an intensive bootcamp focused on acting techniques, character development, networking, and the business aspects of the international film industry.
The competition will culminate in a live grand finale, where finalists will compete for the championship title. In keeping with the event’s tradition, the winner’s home country will earn the right to host Season 4 of the Africa Monologue Challenge.
With Ghana preparing to stage the next edition, organizers expect Season 3 to further strengthen the continent’s creative industries while promoting cultural integration and showcasing Africa’s rich storytelling heritage to audiences around the world.
