Jorja Smith and Wizkid Reunite on New Afrobeats-Infused Single “Alive” Ahead of Third Album Release

Jorja Smith and Wizkid Reunite

British neo-soul and R&B star Jorja Smith has joined forces once again with Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Wizkid for a new single titled “Alive,” marking the return of one of contemporary music’s most celebrated cross-cultural collaborations.

The energetic track serves as the lead single from Smith’s highly anticipated third studio album, “What Are The Odds,” which is scheduled for release on August 21, 2026, through her label FAMM.

The song represents the first musical reunion between Smith and Wizkid since their successful 2020 collaboration “Come Over,” rekindling the chemistry that previously connected British R&B with Nigeria’s global Afrobeats movement.

A New Musical Direction for Jorja Smith

Produced entirely by longtime collaborator P2J, “What Are The Odds” signals a bold new chapter in Smith’s artistic journey.

The 12-track project moves away from the more intimate and reflective R&B style that has defined much of her earlier work, embracing a more energetic, dance-focused sound influenced by UK garage, 2-step, grime, funky house, and Afro house.

Smith revealed that the album developed naturally over a spontaneous seven-month creative period in East London. While the production carries a brighter and more uplifting energy, she explained that her songwriting continues to explore deeply personal themes, including emotional growth, love, heartbreak, friendship, and the experiences that come with maturity.

“Alive” Celebrates Love and Connection

The new single “Alive” captures the excitement and warmth of falling in love, focusing on feelings of passion, emotional connection, and the reassurance that comes with a meaningful relationship.

The track was co-written by Jorja Smith, Wizkid, P2J, Clementine Douglas, and Aäsh, combining Smith’s soulful vocals with Wizkid’s smooth Afrobeats delivery to create a vibrant international sound.

The accompanying music video, directed by Gabriel Trautmann, brings the song’s summer atmosphere to life. Filmed in Paris, the visual follows Smith through the city’s streets before moving into a late-night house party setting, reflecting the song’s themes of romance, freedom, and celebration.

Star-Studded Album Features

Alongside Wizkid, Smith’s upcoming album will feature British grime veteran Devlin, adding another layer of UK musical influence to the project.

The album’s diverse sound palette reflects Smith’s continued evolution as an artist, blending global rhythms with the songwriting depth and vocal style that have earned her international recognition.

Major Festival Appearance Planned

The release of “Alive” will lead into a major live milestone for Smith on the album’s launch day.

On August 21, 2026, she is scheduled to co-headline London’s All Points East 2026 festival alongside fellow Afrobeats superstar Tems, bringing together two of the most influential female voices shaping modern global music.

“What Are The Odds” Era Begins

With “Alive,” Jorja Smith is opening a new era defined by movement, collaboration, and a more expansive musical identity.

The single is now available across major streaming platforms, allowing fans worldwide to experience the first glimpse of the upcoming album and the renewed creative partnership between Smith and Wizkid.
