A US federal judge has approved the permanent forfeiture of cash and electronic devices seized from music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs during searches conducted in 2024.
US District Judge Arun Subramanian signed the final forfeiture order on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, allowing the federal government to take ownership of more than 90 items.
The order followed a 30-day public notice period during which no individual or organization submitted a claim to the property.
Cash and Electronic Devices Forfeited
The seized property includes $9,000 in cash recovered from Combs’ room at the Park Hyatt Hotel on September 16, 2024.
Authorities will also retain approximately 28 iPhones, 17 iPads and several MacBook computers. Other items listed in the order include hard drives and multiple video recordings reportedly labelled “Ibiza Tapes.”
The devices were among materials recovered during searches of Combs’ residences, private aircraft and hotel room in 2024.
Under federal forfeiture procedures, ownership of seized property can be transferred to the government when the items are connected to criminal proceedings and no valid third-party ownership claims are made within the required period.
Combs Serving 50-Month Prison Sentence
The forfeiture order follows Combs’ 2025 conviction for transportation to engage in prostitution.
He is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey.
According to US Bureau of Prisons records, his projected release date is February 20, 2028. That date may remain subject to changes based on applicable prison rules and sentence calculations.
Other Forfeiture Proceedings Continue
The latest ruling applies specifically to the cash, electronic devices and other personal property covered by the final order.
Federal prosecutors are separately pursuing civil forfeiture proceedings involving Combs’ luxury real estate and private jet. Those properties are subject to different legal actions and were not included in the August 4 order.
