Ghana’s music scene has been treated to a major double release following the arrival of new projects from hip-hop heavyweight Kweku Smoke and internationally acclaimed musician Black Sherif.
Both artistes released their highly anticipated bodies of work on the same day, generating excitement across social media and encouraging fans to embark on back-to-back streaming sessions.
Kweku Smoke released No Days Off, his seventh studio album. The 13-track project highlights the rapper’s relentless work ethic, hard-hitting hiplife delivery and street-inspired storytelling.
The album includes “Soul Healer,” “Hallelujah,” “Okwantunii,” “Survivor,” “Bra,” “Bombele,” “Life Of A Hustler,” “Set It Straight,” “No Days Off,” “Through The Pain” and “Faith.”
It also features collaborations with Dikoo on “Mmereniho,” Kwesi Arthur on “Power House” and Lasmid on “Faith.”
Black Sherif, meanwhile, released a six-track EP titled Sun Sherif. The project serves as a warmer and more introspective follow-up to his award-winning Iron Boy era, combining different musical moods with the emotional storytelling for which he has become known.
The EP opens with “Expresso” and continues with “Run Around,” “Forever,” “Jolie,” “Frontline” and “Love Again.” AratheJay appears as a featured artiste on “Forever,” while Full Blown joins Black Sherif on “Love Again.”
The simultaneous releases have sparked lively discussions among fans and industry observers. Rather than framing the moment as a rivalry, many listeners have celebrated it as evidence of the strength and diversity of Ghana’s contemporary music industry.
