Nollywood actress Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman has celebrated the success of Black Market after its Lagos premiere set a Guinness World Record for the largest audience at a film screening in a single location.
The event took place at Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, on Saturday, September 26, 2026. According to Channels Television, Guinness World Records recognized 51,000 qualifying viewers who watched the film from beginning to end.
The turnout surpassed the previous record of 43,624, established during a screening of the Filipino film Felix Manalo at the Philippine Arena in 2015. Organizers had initially aimed to attract 50,000 viewers.
Reacting on Instagram, Ejiofor-Suleiman playfully urged producers to consider her for projects they hoped would make history.
“You want your film to break and shatter records, cast me in them,” she wrote.
The actress described the achievement as her second record in one year and credited God for her success, adding, “Chineke na my plug.”
In Black Market, Ejiofor-Suleiman plays Zimuzo, the leader of a group of five market women involved in a cross-border fuel-smuggling operation. Set against fuel shortages and financial pressure, the story takes a dangerous turn when a rival kidnaps the daughter of one of the women.
The ensemble includes Omowunmi Dada, Scarlet Gomez, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok, Lateef Adedimeji and Uzor Arukwe. Fatimah Binta Gimsay directed the film and co-wrote it with Abdul Tijani-Ahmed, while Nora Awolowo and Nicole Ofoegbu are credited as producers.
The screening brought together Rixel Studios, FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production. Guests included Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Toke Benson, and several Nollywood personalities.
Music, food and games accompanied the premiere, with cheers and fireworks greeting the announcement of the record.
