Nigerian beauty entrepreneur Tara Fela-Durotoye has described her marriage as deeply fulfilling, crediting deliberate effort, mutual respect and protected time together for sustaining her relationship over 25 years.
Speaking on TV3 Ghana’s Today’s Woman in October 2026, the founder of House of Tara International offered insights into her marriage to motivational speaker and author Fela Durotoye.
“Marriage is delicious,” she said, explaining that her experience had fulfilled the hopes she brought into the relationship.
“I’m a woman who is cared for, who is adored, respected, loved, and pampered, and that was the experience I hoped to have in marriage, and I got it.”
Reflecting on their life together while building separate professional brands, Tara said a happy marriage requires consistent attention. She encouraged couples to approach their relationships with the planning and commitment they apply to growing a business.
For her, respect is a deliberate daily practice rather than something dependent on a person’s mood. She also highlighted the importance of communicating thoughtfully, paying attention to tone, timing and the frequency of requests made of a partner.
Despite demanding work schedules, she said time together must remain a priority. Making space for each other, she explained, helps ensure that professional ambitions do not overshadow the relationship.
Tara and Fela married on May 12, 2001, and have three sons: Mobolurin, Demilade and Morolaoluwa.
The couple have also shared relationship lessons through their joint Love Unlocked masterclasses, encouraging spouses to support one another’s development and act as mentors rather than competitors.
Her reflections presented a marriage shaped by affection and partnership, with both spouses making a conscious effort to sustain the life they have built together.
