Meet Richard Nii Armah Quaye: The $800 Million Architect of Ghana’s Financial Sector

Nii

Richard Nii Armah Quaye, widely known as RNAQ, has emerged as one of Ghana’s most prominent and wealthy entrepreneurs, with an estimated net worth of around $800 million. Once regarded as a low-profile business figure, he has recently attracted widespread attention for his expansion into high-level investments and his increasingly visible lifestyle.

In April 2025, Quaye stepped away from the day-to-day management of his businesses to assume a broader strategic role as President of RNAQ Holdings, the umbrella organization overseeing his diverse ventures. At the core of his business empire is Bills Microcredit, formerly known as Quick Credit and Investment Micro-Credit Limited. Established in 2009, the company has grown into Ghana’s largest non-banking financial institution, disbursing more than 7.5 billion GHS in loans.

Quaye has also made significant strides in the startup ecosystem through Quick Angels Limited, an angel investment firm he launched in 2019. The firm has supported over 30 startups with investments exceeding 50 million GHS. Its portfolio includes well-known Ghanaian brands such as Pizzaman Chickenman under CEQA Foods, Burger King Ghana, Ridge Medical Center, and Addicent Foods, producers of Benjie Rice.

Beyond Ghana, Quaye’s influence extends across parts of Western and Eastern Africa through Oya Micro-Credit, further strengthening his footprint in the financial services sector.

In early 2026, he expanded his impact into philanthropy with the launch of the RNAQ Food Bank Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at providing free hot meals to vulnerable populations. He has pledged to channel 90 percent of the income from several of his businesses into funding social interventions like this. His efforts in this space earned him the Excellence in Humanitarian Award in late 2025.

Quaye’s 40th birthday in March 2025 marked a turning point in his public image, ushering in a more visible and extravagant persona. He is known for owning a fleet of luxury vehicles branded with “RNAQ,” including high-end models such as Bugatti, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. His birthday celebration drew particular attention, with reports indicating that his outfit alone cost over $350,000, highlighted by a Richard Mille watch valued at approximately $323,000.

Following the publicity surrounding his lavish celebrations, Quaye came under regulatory scrutiny. The Ghana Revenue Authority conducted a personal income tax review concerning roughly 30 million GHS in alleged unpaid taxes. However, his company maintained that its financial operations are separate from his personal expenditures.

As his profile continues to rise, Richard Nii Armah Quaye remains a significant figure in Ghana’s business landscape, balancing enterprise growth, investment leadership, and philanthropy.
