Mistress Dorcas Wins Diaspora Gospel Award With “Obra”

Mistress Dorcas Wins Diaspora Gospel Award

Gospel musician Mistress Dorcas has won Best Diaspora Gospel Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards Europe 2026 with her single “Obra.”

The ceremony, held in Düsseldorf, Germany, recognised Ghanaian artistes working at home and across the diaspora.

Dorcas emerged ahead of fellow nominees Afriy David, Akua Lizz, Daniel Jeddman, Felicia Boadu, Nana Yaa Otchere, RevGraceMan, Samuel Sey and Yaw Bossman. Their nominated songs included “Eduru Me So,” “Wo Do Me,” “Nyame,” “Aseda,” “Ahoto,” “My Father,” “Waye’bi” and “He Go Do Am Again,” respectively.

“Obra,” which translates as “Life,” explores everyday struggles and encourages compassion towards people facing hardship. According to the singer, its message calls on listeners to extend practical support to those in need.

That theme also reflects her charitable work through the Mistress Dorcas Foundation. The organization has provided food, clothing, money and other essentials to vulnerable individuals, including people living on the streets.

Dorcas has described the outreach as an annual initiative inspired by her concern for people struggling to meet their basic needs. Through both her music and foundation, she has encouraged others to contribute whatever support they can.
